The Giving Tree, along with directions and a list of important dates will be located on the PTA bulletin board near the glass display case in the entry beginning December 5th.

Teacher Spotlight: Michelle Boes

True academia starts in Kindergarten. Kindergarten lays the ground work for all that each child has ahead of them as they begin their educational careers. Having a good kindergarten teacher, who not only teaches reading, writing and math, but also instills the love for school within the littlest of our students is not hard to find at Highland Creek Elementary. Meet Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Boes.

This is my eighth year teaching kindergarten and my seventh year at Highland Creek. I've taught first grade at Blythe Elementary and kindergarten at Newell Elementary. I graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from UNC-Charlotte and recently became Nationally Board Certified. I am originally from the south-central portion of New York State (Go Yankees!) but moved to the Charlotte area with my husband in 1996. My husband and I have been married for 18 years. We have a 10 year old son, Cameron. Being a kindergarten teacher is so important because we are the first stop along the road through "formal" education. I am passionate about creating a learning environment that is fun and exciting for students to learn and grow so that they will develop a love of learning and enjoy coming to school each day. I want to be a part of that excitement!

Mrs. Boes, you not only create that excitement, you cultivate it within our children. When they go to first grade, and then second, third and so on…not only are they academically ready, they enjoy learning because YOU were a part of that beginning. Thank you for choosing Kindergarten and more importantly thank you for choosing Highland Creek Elementary. We are so glad that you are here!!!
